He was always there when she seemed to be on the brink of destruction but… so was he.
He managed to make her feel less alone than he was but… so did he.
He was perfect in almost every way she could think of but… so was he.
Jack's words would echo in her mind, seep deep into her thoughts and lace them with insecurity and doubt, the two were so alike it would be fool hearty to think he would find another girl just as perfect as he was and would leave her alone in the world, just like he did. She would try her best to make him happy though, she would never let him down again, and never let her own pitiful weaknesses put him in danger ever again. Perhaps her grandmother was right, and she could never fulfill a man the way a perfect woman ever would, that forever till' her short life ended she would only become a burden to whomever she was seeing.
It would be a lie for her to say she had never thought of leaving one day, give him a chance to find someone worthy but she could never deny her own selfish side, so she stayed by his side and would never stray unless his life was once again endangered like it had been. Should such a thing ever again happen she would leave… it would be better that way… wouldn't it?

Any way the ‘he’ in italics is speaking of a previous relationship Soma had when she was first in the world of the living. They were to be married (his choice not hers, ‘mates’ was a good enough title for her) but she was un expectedly called back into the line of duty and he broke off the engagement married another girl while Soma was away. She found out only when she saw them together in the house her and the first dude planed to live in. The ones in bold are speaking of Zanga my little sillys.
